00001| Genesis 1:2: GOD’S SPIRIT Hovered Over the Face of the Deep Prior to Earth

1:2: The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And THE SPIRIT OF GOD was hovering over the face of the waters.

00002| Genesis 1:3-5: GOD’S SPIRIT Spoke to Make Light

1:3: Then GOD said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

1:4: And GOD saw the light, that it was good; and GOD divided the light from the darkness.

1:5: GOD called the light Day, and the darkness HE called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

00003| Genesis 1:6-8: GOD’S SPIRIT Spoke to Make the 2-Mile-Thick Dome Enclosing Earth Underwater

1:6: Then GOD said, “Let there be a Firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”

1:7: Thus GOD made the Firmament, and divided the waters which were under the Firmament from the Waters which were above the Firmament; and it was so.

1:8: And GOD called the Firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.

00004| Genesis 1:9-10: GOD’S SPIRIT Spoke to Divide Land and Water on Earth

1:9: Then GOD said, “Let the waters under the Heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.

1:14: Then GOD said, “Let there be lights in the Firmament of the Heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;”

1:15: “and let them be for lights in the Firmament of the Heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.

1:16: Then GOD made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. HE made the stars also.

1:17: GOD set them in the Firmament of the Heavens to give light on the earth,

1:18: and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And GOD saw that it was good.

1:19: So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

00006| Genesis 1:20-22: GOD’S SPIRIT Spoke to Make Every Living Thing on Earth

1:20: Then GOD said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures (souls), and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the Firmament of the Heavens.”

1:22: And GOD blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that [h]moves on the earth.”

2:9: And out of the ground THE LORD GOD made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

00009| Genesis 2:19-20: GOD Appeared to Bring All Animals to Adam to Name

2:19: Out of the ground THE LORD GOD formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam (or the man) to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name.

2:20: So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.

00010| Genesis 2:18,21-25: GOD Appeared to Make “a Helper Comparable” to Adam He Named Woman

2:22: Then the rib which THE LORD GOD had taken from man HE made into a woman, and HE brought her to the man.

2:23: And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.”

2:24: Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

2:25: And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

00011| Genesis 3:8-9: GOD Planted and First Put Man in a Garden

11:7: Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.”

11:8: So THE LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city.

11:9: Therefore its name is called Babel, because there THE LORD confused the language of all the earth; and from there THE LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.

12:3: “I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

12:6: Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, as far as the terebinth tree of Moreh (Alon Moreh in Hebrew). And the Canaanites were then in the land.

13:16: “And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered.”

15:2: But Abram said, “LORD GOD, what will YOU give me, seeing I go childless (am childless), and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?”

15:3: Then Abram said, “Look, YOU have given me no offspring; indeed one (a servant) born in my house is my heir!”

15:4: And behold, the Word of THE LORD came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.”

15:5: Then HE brought him outside and said, “Look now toward Heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And HE said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”

16:8: And He said, “Hagar, Sarai’s maid, where have you come from, and where are you going?” She said, “I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai.”

16:9: The Angel of THE LORD said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand.”

16:10: Then the Angel of THE LORD said to her, “I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude.”

16:11 And the Angel of THE LORD said to her: “Behold, you are with child, And you shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael (GOD Hears), Because THE LORD has heard your affliction.”

16:12 “He shall be a wild man; His hand shall be against every man, And every man’s hand against him. And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.”

16:13: Then she called the name of THE LORD WHO spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, “Have I also here seen Him who sees me?”

16:14: Therefore the well was called Beer Lahai Roi (Well of the One Who Lives and Sees Me); observe, it is between Kadesh and Bered.

17:3: Then Abram fell on his face, and GOD talked with him, saying:

17:4: “As for ME, behold, MY Covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations.”

17:5: “No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many (a multitude of) nations.”

17:6: “I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.”

17:7: “And I will establish MY Covenant between ME and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting Covenant, to be GOD to you and your descendants after you.”

18:2: So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, Three Men were standing by him; and when he saw Them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground,

18:3: and said, “MY LORD, if I have now found favor in YOUR Sight, do not pass on by YOUR Servant.”

18:4: Please let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree.

18:5: And I will bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh your hearts. After that you may pass by, inasmuch as you have come to your servant.” THEY said, “Do as you have said.”

18:9: Then THEY said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” So he said, “Here, in the tent.”

18:10: And HE said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.” (Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.)

18:11: Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.

18:12: Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”

18:13: And THE LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?’ ”

18:14: “Is anything too hard for THE LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”

18:15: But Sarah denied it, saying, “I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. And HE said, “No, but you did laugh!”

19:2: And he said, “Here now, my Lords, please turn in to your servant’s house and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you may rise early and go on your way.” And they said, “No, but we will spend the night in the open square.”

19:3: But he insisted strongly; so they turned in to him and entered his house. Then he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

19:4: Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house.

19:5: And they called to Lot and said to him, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally.”

19:6: So Lot went out to them through the doorway, shut the door behind him,

19:7: and said, “Please, my brethren, do not do so wickedly!”

19:8: “See now, I have two daughters who have not known a man; please, let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them as you wish; only do nothing to these men, since this is the reason they have come under the shadow of my roof.”

19:9: And they said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one came in to stay here (as a resident alien), and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them.” So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door.”

19:10: But the men reached out their hands and pulled Lot into the house with them, and shut the door.

19:11: And they struck the men who were at the doorway of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they became weary trying to find the door.

19:24: Then THE LORD rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from THE LORD out of the Heavens.

19:26: But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

19:27: And Abraham went early in the morning to the place where he had stood before THE LORD.

19:28: Then he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain; and he saw, and behold, the smoke of the land which went up like the smoke of a furnace.

19:29: And it came to pass, when GOD destroyed the cities of the plain, that GOD remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when HE overthrew the cities in which Lot had dwelt.

20:4: But Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, “LORD, will YOU slay a righteous nation also?

20:5: Did he not say to me, ‘She is my sister’? And she, even she herself said, ‘He is my brother.’ In the integrity of my heart and innocence of my hands I have done this.”

20:6: And GOD said to him in a dream, “Yes, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart. For I also withheld you from sinning against ME; therefore I did not let you touch her.

20:7: Now therefore, restore the man’s wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.”

21:17: And GOD heard the voice of the lad. Then the Angel of GOD called to Hagar out of Heaven, and said to her, “What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for GOD has heard the voice of the lad where he is.”

21:18: “Arise, lift up the lad and hold him with your hand, for I will make him a great nation.”

21:19: Then GOD opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the skin with water, and gave the lad a drink.

22:10 And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.

22:11: But the Angel of THE LORD called to him from Heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.”

22:12: And HE said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear GOD, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from ME.”

22:13: Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.

22:14: And Abraham called the name of the place, THE-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of THE LORD it shall be provided.”

22:15: Then the Angel of THE LORD called to Abraham a second time out of Heaven,

22:16: and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says THE LORD, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son—”

22:17: “blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.”

26:4 “And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed;”

26:5 “because Abraham obeyed MY Voice and kept MY Charge, MY Commandments, MY Statutes, and MY Laws.”

00027| Genesis 26:23-24: GOD Appeared to Remind Isaac of HIS Covenant

28:14: “Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

28:15: “Behold, I AM with you and will keep (protect) you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”

31:13 “I AM THE GOD of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar and where you made a vow to ME. Now arise, get out of this land, and return to the land of your family.’ ”

00028| Genesis 31:24: GOD Appeared in a Dream to Warn Laban

32:26 And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”

32:27: So He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob.”

32:28: And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with GOD and with men, and have prevailed.”

32:29: Then Jacob asked, saying, “Tell me Your name, I pray.” And He said, “Why is it that you ask about My name?” And He blessed him there.

32:30: So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

32:31: Just as he crossed over Penuel the sun rose on him, and he limped on his hip.

32:32: Therefore to this day the children of Israel do not eat the muscle that shrank, which is on the hip socket, because He touched the socket of Jacob’s hip in the muscle that shrank.

35:7: And he built an Altar there and called the place El Bethel, because there GOD appeared to him when he fled from the face of his brother.

35:12: “The land which I gave Abraham and Isaac I give to you; and to your descendants after you I give this land.”

35:13: Then GOD went up from him in the place where HE talked with him.

35:14: So Jacob set up a pillar in the place where HE talked with him, a pillar of stone; and he poured a drink offering on it, and he poured oil on it.

40:6: And Joseph came in to them in the morning and looked at them, and saw that they were sad (dejected).

40:7: So he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in the custody of his lord’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”

40:8: And they said to him, “We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.” So Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to GOD? Tell them to me, please.”

40:9: Then the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, “Behold, in my dream a vine was before me,”

40:10: “and in the vine were three branches; it was as though it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes.”

40:11: “Then Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.”

40:12: And Joseph said to him, “This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days.”

40:13: “Now within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your place (position), and you will put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand according to the former manner, when you were his butler.”

40:14: “But remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me; make mention of me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this house.”

40:15: “For indeed I was stolen away from the land of the Hebrews; and also I have done nothing here that they should put me into the dungeon.”

00034| Genesis 40:16-23: GOD Appeared in Pharaoh’s Baker’s Dream for Joseph to Interpret

40:16: When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, “I also was in my dream, and there were three white baskets on my head (or baskets of white bread).”

40:17: “In the uppermost basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”

40:18: “So Joseph answered and said, “This is the interpretation of it: The three baskets are three days.”

40:19: Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head from you and hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from you.”

40:20: Now it came to pass on the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants; and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.

40:21: Then he restored the chief butler to his butlership again, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.

40:22: But he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.

40:23: Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.

00035| Genesis 41:25-32,38-41: GOD Appeared in Pharaoh’s Dream for Joseph to Interpret

41:25: Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one; GOD has shown Pharaoh what HE is about to do:”

41:26: “The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads are seven years; the dreams are one.”

41:27: “And the seven thin and ugly cows which came up after them are seven years, and the seven empty heads blighted by the east wind are seven years of famine.”

41:28: “This is the thing which I have spoken to Pharaoh. GOD has shown Pharaoh what HE is about to do.”

41:29: “Indeed seven years of great plenty will come throughout all the land of Egypt;”

41:30: “but after them seven years of famine will arise, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine will deplete the land.”

41:31: “So the plenty will not be known in the land because of the famine following, for it will be very severe.”

41:32: “And the dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice because the thing is established by GOD, and GOD will shortly bring it to pass.”

41:38: And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is THE SPIRIT OF GOD?”

41:39: Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as GOD has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you.”

41:40: “You shall be (in charge of) over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.”

41:41: And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.”

00036| Genesis 46:1-4: GOD Appeared in Night Visions to Tell Jacob to Go to Egypt

46:1: So Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

46:2: Then GOD spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said, “Jacob, Jacob!” And he said, “Here I am.”

46:3: So HE said, “I AM GOD, THE GOD of your father; do not fear to go down to Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there.”

46:4: “I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again; and Joseph will put his hand on your eyes (will close your eyes when you die).”

00037| Genesis 48:3-4: Jacob Advised Joseph of GOD’S Appearance and Blessing

48:3: Then Jacob said to Joseph: “GOD ALMIGHTY appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me,”

48:4: “and said to me, ‘Behold, I will make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will make of you a multitude of people, and give this land to your descendants after you as an everlasting possession.’ ”

00038| Exodus 3:2-17: GOD’S Angel Appeared as a Burning Bush to Tell Moses to Go to Egypt

3:2: And the Angel of THE LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed.

3:3: Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”

3:4: So when THE LORD saw that he turned aside to look, GOD called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”

3:5: Then HE said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is Holy ground.”

3:6: Moreover HE said, “I AM THE GOD of your father—THE GOD of Abraham, THE GOD of Isaac, and THE GOD of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon GOD.

3:7: And THE LORD said: “I have surely seen the oppression of MY people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows (pain).”

3:8: “So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.”

3:9: “Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to ME, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.”

3:10: “Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring MY people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”

3:11: But Moses said to GODod, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”

3:12: So HE said, “I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve GOD on this mountain.”

3:13: Then Moses said to GOD, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘THE GOD of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?”

3:14: And GOD said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And HE said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”

3:15: Moreover GOD said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘THE LORD GOD of your fathers, THE GOD of Abraham, THE GOD of Isaac, and THE GOD of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is MY Name forever, and this is MY Memorial to all generations.’ ”

3:16: “Go and gather the elders of Israel together, and say to them, ‘THE LORD GOD of your fathers, THE GOD of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared to me, saying, “I have surely visited you and seen what is done to you in Egypt;” ’ ”

3:17: “ ‘ “and I have said I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey.” ’ ”

00039| Exodus 4:1-17: GOD Appeared to Show Moses Signs for Pharaoh to Release Israel

4:1: Then Moses answered and said, “But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, ‘THE LORD has not appeared to you.’ ”

4:2: So THE LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.”

4:3: And HE said, “Cast it on the ground.” So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it.

4:4: Then THE LORD said to Moses, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail” (and he reached out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand),

4:5: “that they may believe that THE LORD GOD of their fathers, THE GOD of Abraham, THE GOD of Isaac, and THE GOD of Jacob, has appeared to you.”

4:6: Furthermore THE LORD said to him, “Now put your hand in your bosom.” And he put his hand in his bosom, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, like snow.

4:7: And HE said, “Put your hand in your bosom again.” So he put his hand in his bosom again, and drew it out of his bosom, and behold, it was restored like his other flesh.

4:8: “Then it will be, if they do not believe you, nor heed the message of the first sign, that they may believe the message of the latter sign.”

4:9: “And it shall be, if they do not believe even these two signs, or listen to your voice, that you shall take water from the river (the Nile) and pour it on the dry land. The water which you take from the river will become blood on the dry land.”

4:10: Then Moses said to THE LORD, “O MY LORD, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since YOU have spoken to YOUR servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue (heavy or dull of tongue; cannot talk very well).”

4:11: So THE LORD said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, THE LORD?”

4:12: “Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”

4:13: But he said, “O MY LORD, please send by the hand of whomever else YOU may send.”

4:14: So the Anger of THE LORD was kindled against Moses, and HE said: “Is not Aaron the Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well. And look, he is also coming out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.”

4:15: “Now you shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth. And I will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and I will teach you what you shall do.”

4:16: “So he shall be your spokesman to the people. And he himself shall be as a mouth for you, and you shall be to him as GOD.”

4:17: “And you shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs.”

00040| Exodus 6:1-9: GOD Appeared to Renew GOD’S Promise to Israel:

6:1: Then THE LORD said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh. For with a strong hand he will let them go, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land.”

6:2: And GOD spoke to Moses and said to him: “I AM THE LORD.”

6:3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as GOD ALMIGHTY, but by MY Name LORD I was not known to them.

6:4: I have also established (made or ratified) MY Covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, in which they were strangers.

6:5: And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered MY Covenant.

6:6: Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the Lord; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm (and MY Mighty Power) and with great judgments.

6:7: I will take you as MY People, and I will be your GOD. Then you shall know that I AM THE LORD your GOD WHO brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.

6:8: And I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and I will give it to you as a heritage: I AM THE LORD.’ ”

6:9: So Moses spoke thus to the children of Israel; but they did not heed Moses, because of anguish of spirit and cruel bondage.

00041| Exodus 7:1-7: GOD Appears and Advises Moses to Tell Pharaoh to Let Israel Leave Egypt

7:1: So THE LORD said to Moses: “See, I have made you as GOD to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.”

7:2: “You shall speak all that I command you. And Aaron your brother shall tell Pharaoh to send the children of Israel out of his land.”

7:3: “And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply MY Signs and MY Wonders in the land of Egypt.”

7:4: “But Pharaoh will not heed you, so that I may lay MY Hand on Egypt and bring MY Armies (hosts) and MY People, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.”

7:5: “And the Egyptians shall know that I AM THE LORD, when I stretch out MY Hand on Egypt and bring out the children of Israel from among them.”

7:6: Then Moses and Aaron did so; just as THE LORD commanded them, so they did.

7:7: And Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh.

00042| Exodus 7:8-10: GOD Appeared to Tell Moses How to Make Aaron’s Staff a Snake as a Sign to Pharaoh

7:8: Then THE LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,

7:9: “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Show a miracle for yourselves,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent.’ ”

7:10: So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as THE LORD commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

00043| Exodus 7:11-13: GOD’S Snake from Aaron’s Staff Swallows Egypt’s Snake Staffs

7:11: But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers (soothsayers); so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments (secret arts from the fallen angels).

7:12: For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

7:13: And Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as THE LORD had said.

00044| Exodus 7:14-21: GOD Appeared to Moses to Warn Pharaoh and Plague Egypt with Blood Rivers

7:14: So THE LORD said to Moses: “Pharaoh’s heart is hard; he refuses to let the people go.”

7:15: “Go to Pharaoh in the morning, when he goes out to the water, and you shall stand by the river’s bank to meet him; and the rod which was turned to a serpent you shall take in your hand.”

7:16: “And you shall say to him, ‘THE LORD GOD of the Hebrews has sent me to you, saying, “Let MY people go, that they may serve ME in the wilderness”; but indeed, until now you would not hear!’ ”

7:17: “ ‘Thus says THE LORDBy this you shall know that I AM THE LORD. Behold, I will strike the waters which are in the river with the rod that is in my hand, and they shall be turned to blood.” ’ ”

7:18: “ ‘ “And the fish that are in the river shall die, the river shall stink, and the Egyptians will loathe to drink the water of the river.” ’ ”

7:19: Then THE LORD spoke to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their streams, over their rivers, over their ponds, and over all their pools of water, that they may become blood. And there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in buckets of wood and pitchers of stone.’ ”

7:20: And Moses and Aaron did so, just as THE LORD Commanded. So he lifted up the rod and struck the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants. And all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

7:21: The fish that were in the river died, the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink the water of the river. So there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

00045| Exodus 8:1-15: GOD Appeared to Moses to Warn Pharaoh and Plague Egypt with Frogs

8:1: And THE LORD spoke to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says THE LORD: “Let MY people go, that they may serve ME.”

8:2: But if you refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all your territory with frogs.

8:3: So the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into your house, into your bedroom, on your bed, into the houses of your servants, on your people, into your ovens, and into your kneading bowls.

8:4: And the frogs shall come up on you, on your people, and on all your servants.” ’ ”

8:5: Then THE LORD spoke to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up on the land of Egypt.’ ”

8:6: So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt.

8:7: And the magicians did so with their enchantments (secret arts from the fallen angels), and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt.

8:8: Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, “Entreat THE LORD that HE may take away the frogs from me and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice to THE LORD.”

8:9: And Moses said to Pharaoh, “Accept the honor of saying when I shall intercede for you, for your servants, and for your people, to destroy the frogs from you and your houses, that they may remain in the river only.”

8:10: So he said, “Tomorrow.” And he said, “Let it be according to your word, that you may know that there is no one like THE LORD our GOD.”

8:11: “And the frogs shall depart from you, from your houses, from your servants, and from your people. They shall remain in the river only.”

8:12: Then Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh. And Moses cried out to THE LORD concerning the frogs which HE had brought against Pharaoh.

8:13: So THE LORD did according to the word of Moses. And the frogs died out of the houses, out of the courtyards, and out of the fields.

8:14: They gathered them together in heaps, and the land stank.

8:15: But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not heed them, as THE LORD had said.
